In Ukraine, civil aviation is a strategically important sector of the economy. Civil aviation is also one of the main elements of integration into the modern system of international economic and social interconnections. Today, low-cost airlines are an integral part of the global aviation system and a widespread business model. Significant growth in passenger air transport is also taking place in Ukraine. Data from the State Aviation Service of Ukraine show that during 2017 the number of passengers carried by Ukrainian airlines increased by 27.5% and was equal to 10.5 million people. This is a record figure in the history of independent Ukraine. Today, according to the dynamics of growth, Ukraine is ahead of the average indicators in Europe. Consequently, the aviation industry in 2018 is in high demand and has a tendency to increase in the future. This is especially true for the growth of airline traffic by low-cost airlines. Today, Wizz Air is a leader among foreign airlines, which make cheap air travel to Ukraine. This air carrier is constantly working on the territorial expansion of its flights and optimization of operating costs in Ukraine. Another popular low-cost airline is the Irish company Ryanair, which on September 3, 2018, began to carry out air transportation on the territory of Ukraine. According to analysts' predictions, 2018 should have become Ukraine's year of low-cost companies. As you can see, this has happened. If in 2015 the low-cost airlines operated on 18 airlines, then in 2017 this number was doubled and was equal to 38 airlines. The article describes the current state and characteristics of low-cost airlines, which operate flights to Ukrainian airports.
